Nice or Cannes: where should you stay?

Choose Nice if...

You want a real city that continues to exist when you put the phone away, more neighbourhoods, broader culture and a practical base. Nice does not require you to become an extra in your own holiday.

Choose Cannes if...

You want compact, polished, beachy, hotel-heavy and a few more people who look as though they have just left a fitting room. Cannes knows exactly what it sells. Decades went into that packaging, gari, and not for dégun.

Sandy beaches are also a genuine advantage if you have a difficult relationship with Nice pebbles.

Our pick for a first trip

Nice, especially for three nights or more. More contrast, more life, better base. Cannes will survive our preference. Hu, it has known worse.
